Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991, and professionally referred to as Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and was the first female to be signed by J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. She released her first EP from the label on October 21 of 2016, entitled Pho, and she started to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It came out in May of 2019. Ari Lennox started posting her music to the internet in 2012, as she dropped her first mixtape Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography In 2013. The year 2014 saw her release further music online including Bound. The song was included in Omen's Elephant Eyes which was released in Sweat It Out on the 21st of July, 2015. The following year, her music circulated around the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to collaborate with him on some potential references to Rihanna. In December, it was revealed 8th that she had joined Dreamville Records. The singer appeared in the album collaboration Revenge of the Dreamers II in the track Backseat featuring Cozz. In October 2016 the singer-songwriter released her debut EP Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's hit song Change in 2017 and also as an opening act for the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in the year 2017. The following year, she went on to guest feature on two songs with her label-mates EarthGang in Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox's first album Shea Butter Baby was released on the 16th of July, 2018. The debut single, Whipped Cream The album's first single, Whipped Cream dropped on September 5, 2018 with a music video. Her second single for Grampa on November 9. She then released on November 13 two brand new singles, titled One and Pedigree. One and pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released on her debut single, February 26, 2019 for the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby was featured with Cole as part of The Creed II sound track on the 16th of November. On February 20, 2019 the music video was released to accompany the track. It has already received more than three million views on YouTube during its initial week. She was the supporting act for 6LACK on their From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December of 2018.
